First Baptist Dallas began not as a grand institution, but as a small gathering of believers in 1868, just eleven people with a shared faith and a vision for something greater. In a growing city still finding its identity, they planted roots that would quietly grow into something lasting. What started in simplicity became a place where generations would come to worship, find community, and experience God’s presence together.
Over time, that small beginning gave rise to a beautiful sanctuary in the heart of Dallas. A red brick church that stood for more than a century. Within its walls, countless prayers were lifted, lives were changed, and families marked the most meaningful moments of their lives. It became more than a building; it was a spiritual home, woven deeply into the story of the city and the lives of those who walked through its doors.
As the years passed, the church continued to grow, guided by leaders and a congregation committed to faith, service, and outreach. Its influence stretched far beyond Dallas, touching lives across the nation and around the world. Yet at its core, it remained what it had always been—a place where people could come as they are and find purpose, belonging, and hope.
In recent years, First Baptist Dallas embraced a new chapter, opening a modern worship center while honoring the legacy of the historic sanctuary that stood beside it. It became a reflection of both past and future—tradition and renewal existing together, much like the generations of people who have called it home.
Then, in July 2024, a devastating fire damaged the historic sanctuary that had stood for over 130 years. And yet, even in loss, the story did not end. The church responded not with despair, but with faith and unity—continuing to gather, to worship, and to look ahead with hope. Today, that moment stands as a reminder that while buildings may change, the foundation of faith, community, and love remains unshaken.
